Inward Bound Mindfulness Education

A Meditation, QiGong & Yoga Class “for Teens”

Meditation for teens will develop mindfulness skills.  Through games, small group dialogue, meditation and an exploration of mindful movement with the arts, young people will discover more about themselves, each other and the world around them.  

Four Sundays

April 11,18,25 May 2

People of all faiths and traditions are welcome.

+ All are invited to the first meeting free. Those interested in continuing are asked to attend all other meetings. There is a Registration Fee $30-$65  The registration fee covers space rental, administration and expenses.

NO ONE WILL BE TURNED AWAY FOR LACK OF FUNDS.

Leading IMCC Meditation Teachers

Pat Coffey, M Ed, has been practicing meditation for over 30 years.  He teaches meditation nationally and is the founder of the Insight Meditation Community of Charlottesville and co-founder of the Blue Ridge Prison Project.  Pat's teaching experience includes in middle school, high school and college.

Susan Stone, PhD, has been engaged in meditation for more than 25 years and is one of the lead teachers at IMCC.  Susan teaches Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) at the University of Virginia where she is a member of the faculty. She also teaches mindfulness to middle-school students and inmates at a women's maximum-security prison.

Other Teachers and Facilitators 

Dawn Anderson, PhD is an educator and meditation practitioner who is passionate to bring teens the meditation club she founded at Albemarle High School. For 20 years, she’s taught, specializing in young/ adult women’s development, global issues, and geometry. She loves origami and mandalas.

Linda Capacchione, LPC, CYT has been a practitioner of meditation and yoga since 1997 and teaching both since 2004.  For 30 years as an educator and Licensed Professional Counselor, she engages youth and families through fun, humor and creative arts in nature and wellness centers.

Steve Jamme, MEd has specialized in Educational Psychology at UVa and has been a meditation practitioner for several years. He’s worked with teens as a residential counselor, teacher and coach in summer camps and independent schools for the past 30 years.

Joe Klein, LPC serves as co-director of iBme and as Virginia Teen Retreat Coordinator for MAYAretreats.org. Joe has over 10 years experience as a practitioner of meditation, Chinese internal martial arts and as a soccer coach. He brings playfulness to his work with young people.

Teresa Miller, MEd , a Certified Professional Coach, has facilitated learning in various realms-public schools, colleges, community mediation center, Federal Executive Institute, health fitness center and Fluvanna women’s prison.

Amy Predmore, JD, CYT has been practicing yoga and meditation since 1998 and has studied with many internationally recognized teachers. She has been a Certified Yoga Teacher since 2003 and also continues to teach high school math students for several years. She loves nature and camping.
