You are invited to join IMCC Member, Sonia Fox, for a Mindful Dialogue and Discourse Study Group.

Sonia says:

Please join me for a Mindful Dialogue and Discourse Study Group. I am not a scholar. I have studied some of the early Buddhist discourses and the deeper my study the greater the joy and benefit I have found in it. I would like to share this experience with others who would like to read some discourses with me, in various translations, using our discussion time as an opportunity to practice mindful listening and speaking. All reading will be done together.

We will meet on the second and fourth Mondays of November, November 13th and 27th from 6:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. at Central Library, 201 East Market Street in the Madison Conference Room on the third floor. There is no fee.

Our reading will be the Kamala Sutta: To the Kalamas. In this discourse, some of the members of the Kalama people ask the Buddha this question: How do you know who to believe when they expound a doctrine? The Buddha’s answer is subtle and deep, but plainly expressed. Though no prior reading is required, on the website, Access to Insight, a translation of the Sutta can be found.
