Leigh Brasington, one of the world’s foremost teachers of the meditative absorptions, is leading a day-long retreat at IMCC to introduce newcomers to the meditative absorptions and support those who already practice them.

The meditative absorptions or jhanas, are non-ordinary states of consciousness that in Western traditions are known as mystical states. They include experiences of rapture, happiness, bliss, equanimity, and other more refined states. While in the West there is a general belief that only rare individuals (mystics) experience these states, the Buddha taught laypeople how to access them.

With a focus on lovingkindness, Leigh teaches with a gentle humor and easy manner that is attracting a growing number of students in the United States and internationally.  (See www.leighb.com.)

While attainment of meditative absorptions requires sustained effort over time, this retreat introduces the basic principles of the practice. It will include instruction coupled with sitting and walking meditation and ample time for questions and answers.

Open to all whether you are a new or seasoned meditator.

Please bring lunch, beverage, meditation cushion or bench and wear comfortable clothing. Tea and snacks will be provided. Chairs are available.

Online registration required. No registrations at the door will be accepted at the door.
Fee: $35

No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

In addition to the online registration fee and in order to help support Leigh, dana (donation) will be gratefully accepted on the day of the retreat.
