Ruth King is a nation wide Insight Meditation Teacher and Emotional Wisdom author and consultant. She is a guiding teacher at Insight Meditation Community of Washington, DC, core teacher in the Dedicated Practitioner Program at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, and the founder of Mindful Members Insight Meditation Community in Charlotte, NC.

In former years, King managed training and organizational development divisions at Levi Strauss and Intel corporations where she coached leaders on transformative leadership, workplace trauma, stress reduction, diversity awareness, and the emotional and cultural implications of mergers, acquisitions, and severe downsizing. Currently recognized as a mindful mentor, trainer of trainers and consultant to consultants, King works with organizations and teams to foster environments of genuine inclusion, emotional well-being, and mindful leadership.

King is the creator of the Mindful of Race Training — A Stimulus for Social Healing and Leadership, the DVD program Mindful Approaches to Cultural Competency, and the audio program Embracing the Mad Mind — Cultivating Calm in Chaos. King is also the author of The Emotional Wisdom CardsSoothing The Inner Flames of Rage — Meditations That Educate the Heart and Transform the Mind, and Healing Rage–Women Making Inner Peace Possible.

The knowledge and inspiration that inhabits HealingRage is derived from King’s personal life and from creating and teaching the Healing Rage and Generational Healing retreats for over 15 years. A world traveler, King has been influenced by the cultures of China, the Philippines, Europe, Cuba, Brazil, Scandinavia, and India, and for several years, she led cross-cultural awareness tours to Egypt, Ghana, Senegal, and South Africa.

King has a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from John F. Kennedy University, CA (1992), where she also served as adjunct faculty in the Graduate School of Professional Psychology.

King, of African American heritage, Elder, great grandmother, and native Californian, living over 25 years in the Bay Area, currently resides in Charlotte, NC, with her life partner, Dr. Barbara Riley, and cat, Mr. Socks.
