Working with Emotional Reactivity

Teacher: Jeffrey Fracher

Some of the most difficult challenges that we face in our practice are the result of emotional reactivity. Emotional reactivity is the result of our being controlled by our emotions in ways that are not skillful. One of the basic tenants of Buddhist teaching addresses the need to manage our emotions as we make progress on the spiritual path. Doing so is fundamental to achieving equanimity and acceptance of things as they are, not as we wish them to be. The talk will look at the issue of emotional reactivity in depth. We will explore steps that we can take to better manage our emotional reactivity.

IMCC meets every Tuesday evening for a period of guided meditation and a talk by one of IMCC's experienced meditation teachers.  The program is designed to be friendly and of interest to people with no meditation experience as well as more advanced practitioners.
