On Generosity & Ecodharma

with Liz Reynolds

In Buddhist circles, we talk often about generosity ('dana' in Pali) as a pillar of practice, one of the paramitas or spiritual perfections. Acts of giving usually reference our interpersonal relationships with other human beings, which can be such a wise and replenishing avenue. Through a broader lens in our time together this evening, we will inquire into the ways that this concept of generosity can play a central role in our relationship with the natural world. To aid us in this exploration, we'll begin with a shorter period of guided practice, followed by some time to explore whatever we may find outside our front doors with intentionality and deep curiosity. We'll end the evening with some reflections and ideas about fostering this interbeing relationship with our Tree, Soil and Water kin, and deepen our inquiry about offering generosity to the Earth from which we come and to which we return. Please join us!
