Our community is sustained through dāna — the Buddhist practice of generosity. Our programs are offered freely or at an accessible sliding fee scale basis, and our operating expenses are covered entirely through the generosity of our sangha. We are deeply grateful for your support.
IMCC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and all donations are tax-deductible. Our Tax ID (EIN) is: 20-3244426

The majority of our expenditures fall into two broad categories: teacher dana and institutional maintenance.
Teacher Dana is the compensation provided to IMCC instructors and practice leaders.
Institutional Maintenance includes over $40,000 per year to fund the infrastructure required to maintain IMCC as an institution. This includes the salary for our Operations Director Brianna, accountant fees, our website system, insurance, professional membership fees, various financial tools such as PayPal, Square, and Quickbooks, honorarium for guest teachers, print materials, and scholarships. We also pay rent for our weekly gatherings at UU.

IMCC is committed to complete transparency and responsibility in managing its finances. All disbursements require the approval of the Board Chair or Treasurer before checks are written separately by our accountant, ensuring a complete audit trail. If at any point you have concerns about IMCC finances that cannot be resolved to your satisfaction in discussions with the Chair or Treasurer, please raise them with the Hearing, Ethics, and Reconciliation Council (https://www.imeditation.org/EAR). Their purview includes ensuring the financial affairs are conducted in an ethical manner.

If you're 70½ or older, you can make a meaningful gift to the IMCC through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA. This type of donation can reduce your taxable income while supporting our mission.
Why Give Through a QCD?
✔ Tax Benefit – A QCD can count toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) while being excluded from your taxable income.
✔ Simple Process – Your IRA administrator can send the donation directly to IMCC on your behalf.
✔ Immediate Impact – Your gift supports our work sharing Buddhist teachings, meditation practice, and inclusive community dialogue.
